“THAT ALL MAY MEET AND HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH THE PRINCE OF LIFE”

In November 2007, we and three other Evangelical Christian missionary families settled in Genoa with the aim of preaching the Gospel and bringing the person of the Lord Jesus Christ to the knowledge of all. However, we tried to be more concrete in carrying out the works of mercy towards our neighbour that the Lord commands all his disciples to do, and with this in mind, in March 2011 we founded the voluntary association ‘Mani del Maestro’ (Hands of the Master), set up to help needy families in Genoa, with a particular focus on the Valpolcevera area. We are the Hands and the Master is Jesus Christ. We aim to be the Hands of Jesus, attentive to the practical and spiritual needs of the population.
Thus over the years the small community of the Gospel Meeting with Jesus has taken shape, officially a project of the ‘Hands of the Master’ association.
Encounter with Jesus, proposes to expound and teach the Bible, to bring people who are interested in a personal encounter with God in the person of Christ Jesus with the work of the Holy Spirit, with the aim of a true integral transformation of people so that they can get closer and closer to the image of God to glorify Him with their lives. When the Master becomes your Lord!

We are Stefano Bonavolta and Irene Amodio, married September 2, 2014 and parents of a beautiful little girl named Elèna. Together, in Pozzuoli, in the province of Naples, we work full-time in fellowship and service at the local church Fiume di Vita which leaders are Alec Catchpole and Salvatore Varriale.
Our vision is to make disciples of Christ of the young people the Lord has placed in our path. Accompanying kids to the knowledge of Christ first and in a journey of maturation later is an expression of the burden we have always carried in our hearts. Of course we are also involved in other things (teaching, church leadership, evangelism, home church, sports), but our greatest commitment is among the younger generation, in the desire that God’s glory will shine there too with all its power.

Ciao!

Come scrisse l’apostolo Paolo:

“Noi infatti non predichiamo noi stessi, ma Cristo Gesù quale Signore, e quanto a noi ci dichiariamo vostri servi per amore di Gesù; perché il Dio che disse: «Splenda la luce fra le tenebre», è quello che risplendé nei nostri cuori per far brillare la luce della conoscenza della gloria di Dio che rifulge nel volto di Gesù Cristo.” (2Cor 4:5-6)

In short, our missionary story begins with a strong desire to give more and more to the Lord. In the year 2013 we matured the desire and the call to start serving the Lord full-time. We decide to go to Argentina where we attend a Bible school. During this time we realize that our nation, while considering itself Christian, is one of the least Christianized, and a strong desire matures in us to return to Italy and dedicate ourselves to church planting. It also matures a project and a burden, which is to establish churches where there is no denomination, and God puts it in our hearts to start in Assisi.
Our project is to form a sending church that forms other sending churches. Today (year 2017) God has formed a small community of about 30 people in Assisi. Pray that it may grow that we may form pastors and deacons for the spiritual independence of the community. May missionaries be formed to go and start other churches, and may the local church have the weight and strength to sustain and support itself. Mt. 28:19, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. God bless your work.

Roberto was born and raised in Palermo and God called him to follow Jesus and serve Him at the age of 14 years old during a YFC summer camp. When he was 19 years old, he did a gap year in England with Youth For Christ Britain, and despite having planned to stay in the UK following this and get married to his now wife Kristin in 2016, he felt an undeniable call from the Lord to return to Sicily to serve him among teenagers. He continued to volunteer with every opportunity he got during his university years and began leading the youth group of his church. Kristin’s parents are British missionaries in Italy, so she grew up in a small town near Messina in Sicily. She got involved volunteering for Youth for Christ when she was 15. She took a gap year in the UAE after she finished school, and studied in Scotland where she did a Bible Teaching Training Course after completing her university studies. Roberto has completed a master’s degree in theology in January 2024.

Kristin and Roberto’s passion is to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to young people. They do this locally, serving their church as a youth pastor, meeting teenagers one to one, leading Bible studies and a girls club called “Wonder Woman” and organising youth events. They are also pioneering a local schools ministry and planning on starting a new evangelistic camp geared towards evangelism through sports and English. Roberto also serves part-time with Youth for Christ International as the online learning platform manager, and this role involves him training, teaching and assisting Youth for Christ staff from all around the world in using the online learning platform, Pathwright. With this tool they are able to train their staff and volunteers as well as provide resources to those who wouldn’t so easily have access to them.
