As I was reflecting on the journey of this remarkable\u00a0man, I was moved to tears by the wondrous power of the Holy Spirit to change a heart.<\/p>\n<p>Louis was once a man \u201cunbroken,\u201d but not anymore:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<span id=\"87ce24f0-0547-4d9d-8873-52776664bdac\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">bullies he<\/span>\u00a0faced in high school in the 1920\u2032s couldn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>The injustice done to him by other runners as he raced to beat records didn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>The severe homesickness that accompanied his military service couldn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>His plane\u00a0<span id=\"44d960cd-cdd2-4947-9c7f-1e556cf5a3f1\" class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\">crash<\/span>\u00a0into the Pacific on May 27, 1943 didn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>47 days drifting on a raft in the ocean couldn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>The sharks that attacked him from the water while the Japanese strafed his raft from the sky didn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>Burying his close friend and fellow soldier at sea couldn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>A typhoon that nearly swamped his raft didn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>His Japanese captors who taunted and tortured and nearly starved him for two and a half years couldn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>The mental agonies stirred up by the tortures of \u201cThe Bird\u201d didn\u2019t break him.<\/li>\n<li>But in September 1949, at a Billy Graham crusade,<strong>\u00a0the gospel broke him.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God\u2019s power for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption,\u00a0the riveting life story of Olympic runner Louis Zamperini, is easily one of the best books I\u2019ve read\u2026 ever.
